Metric Supported Devices
iOS, iPhone & iPad
Metric is available on iPhone and iPad via the App Store. The app requires iOS 18 or newer although iOS 26 and newer is recommended.
Camera quality and processing power improved significantly across Apple's lineup from 2019 onwards, so we recommend devices from that era or newer for the best experience. Older models may still install and run Metric, but you may notice slower post-recording processing and reduced real-time tracking accuracy.
iPhone
- ✅ iPhone 11 and all newer models (2019+)
- ✅ iPhone SE (3rd generation)
iPad
Apple's iPad camera systems received a meaningful upgrade in 2020–2021. We recommend devices from that period or newer.
- ✅ iPad Pro — 5th generation and newer (2022+)
- ✅ iPad — 9th generation and newer (2021+)
- ✅ iPad Air — 5th generation and newer (2022+)
- ✅ iPad Mini — 6th generation and newer (2021+)
Devices with limited support
These devices can install Metric but are not officially supported. Tracking accuracy and processing speed may be affected.
- ⚠️ iPhone XS and XR — capable of accurate tracking but expect longer processing times after recording
- ⚠️ iPad models older than those listed above — may experience slower processing and reduced accuracy
Not supported
- ⛔ iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and older — camera hardware and processing power fall below what Metric requires for reliable tracking
- ⛔ iPhone SE (1st and 2nd generation)
- ⛔ All iPod Touch models
- ⛔ Apple Vision Pro and Mac
Android
Metric for Android is currently in public beta. You can join the beta here to start testing the app on your Android device.
Android hardware varies significantly across price tiers and chipset configurations — camera quality, GPU capability, and available RAM all affect how well Metric can track lifts and process video frames. The devices listed below have been tested and meet the processing requirements for accurate, reliable velocity data.
Minimum requirements
Your device must meet all of the following to install Metric from the Play Store:
- Android 11 (API 30) or newer
- 6 GB RAM or more
- Vulkan 1.2 with compute shader support
- OpenGL ES 3.2 or newer
- Rear camera capable of 1080p
The Play Store will automatically prevent installation on devices that don't meet these requirements.

Not sure if your device qualifies?
Search for Metric in the Play Store. If the install button is greyed out or shows "device not compatible," your phone doesn't meet the current minimum requirements.
