Version 5.4 - Expanded language support, better charts

What's new 🚨

Global Language Expansion
Metric now speaks your language! We've added support for German, Hindi, Polish, and Japanese, making velocity-based training accessible to athletes worldwide. Already using Metric in another language? You'll find numerous bug fixes, improvements, and tweaks to existing translations for a more polished experience. Found a translation issue? Improvements ✨

  • Enhanced Chart Interactions. We've refined the touch responsiveness of our charts, making them smoother to interact with and easier to activate exactly when you want them.
  • Expanded Exercise Library. Browse new exercises now available in the exercise library for your next workout. More variety means more opportunities to track your progress across different training modalities.

Bug fixes 🐛

  • Performance Chart Data Loading. Fixed bugs affecting data loading and real-time syncing on the performance chart page, ensuring your training data appears instantly and accurately.
  • Date Formatting Consistency. Standardized date formatting and capitalization throughout the app for a more professional, consistent experience.

Version 5.3 - Peak velocity for trends, rep auto-hide

What's new 🚨

Peak Velocity as Default Metric
You can now make Peak Velocity your default metric for records and for trend tracking. Customize this setting for the entire Metric app or on an exercise-specific basis to get the most relevant data for your training style. (Pro tip: Peak values are perfect for loaded jumps making it an even better readiness test for your athletes!)

Enhanced Trends Analysis
We've expanded the Trends chart functionality to give you more control over your data visualization:

  • Toggle between mean or peak velocity measurements on a per-exercise basis
  • View your progress across multiple timescales, no longer limited to just 6 weeks
  • Get deeper insights into your performance patterns with more flexible data options

Intelligent Rep Filtering
Metric already does a lot of work to filter out unrack and rerack ghost reps from your set, but sometimes they still sneak in, especially the catches on jumps or Olympic lifts. Now Metric performs a second sweep and auto-hides any suspected false detections from the set. If it gets it wrong, just scroll down to the set review and unhide the rep to add it back into your set data.

  • Redesigned Home Page Layout. We've reorganized the home screen with cleaner button organization for more intuitive navigation and faster access to your most-used features.
  • Real-time Data Updates. Progress charts and training history views now respond better to showing training data edits in real-time, giving you instant feedback when you make changes.

Bug fixes 🐛

  • Translation Enhancements. Improved translations and optimizations across all locales for a more natural experience regardless of your language preference. (More supported languages are on their way too!)
  • Training History Edits. Fixed a bug when editing a set from your training history that prevented the changes from showing in the UI.
  • Trends Chart Refresh. Resolved a data refresh issue in the trends charts that occasionally showed outdated information.
  • Personal Records Alignment. Fixed a bug that was causing some personal records to fall out of alignment with your actual training history when editing or deleting sets.
  • Simplified Payments Page. Hid the family plans for simpler clarity on the payments pages.
  • Visual Refinements. Color and font tweaks for both dark and light mode to improve readability and visual consistency.
  • UI Improvements. Various UI and interaction improvements throughout the app for a smoother user experience.

Repeat from history (Pro)
Bring your best workouts back to life with our new repeat feature. Select any workout from your training history and instantly recreate that session with all sets, reps, and exercises pre-filled. Perfect for maintaining consistency in your training program or getting back on track after a break.

Template creation from history (Pro)
Turn your most effective workouts into templates with a single tap. Any workout in your history can now be converted into a customizable template, making it easier than ever to build and maintain your training program based on what works best for you.

Tempo Metronome
Take control of your lifting tempo with our new metronome feature. When recording your sets, you can now enable audio feedback to maintain consistent timing throughout your lifts. This feature is particularly valuable for controlled eccentrics and pauses on bodybuilding and volume exercises, helping you develop better lifting rhythm and control.

Italian Language Support
Ciao!

We're excited to welcome our Italian users with full app translation support. We've implemented complete Italian language integration throughout the app, ensuring a native language experience for our Italian users.

Improvements ✨

Enhanced 1RM Estimation
We've refined our e1RM calculator to show a result in more contexts. The system now shows estimates when you've recorded three or more sets, requiring either a 60% spread in weights or a 0.25m/s spread in best-rep mean velocities. This update means more workouts will display 1RM values, including sessions with smaller weight ranges.

Expanded Website Documentation
The Metric user guide is now available in more languages with the addition of Portuguese and Chinese translations. We've integrated direct in-app links that take you straight to the content in your preferred language, creating a seamless experience for our global community of athletes.

Training History Enhancement
Each workout now includes an overview card at the top, providing quick-glance statistics and key insights about your session.

  • Improvements to 4K video handling on the import feature to address crashing
  • Fixed an issue with the RPE entry sheet that would sometimes not dismiss
  • Fixes for translations and UI issues in Chinese, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese

Version 4.7 - Video Import

What's new 🚨

Video Import
Metric now supports importing videos from your camera roll for analysis and processing. This feature allows you to:

  • Import horizontal or vertical videos
  • Use 1080p or 4k videos
  • Import videos from digital cameras or other devices

For optimal results, we recommend using videos recorded at 60fps. Note: Slow-motion video is not recommended. Metric recording guidelines can be found at this link.

Add Imported Videos to Workout History
Enhance your existing workouts by adding imported video sets to your workout history. You can also start a new workout from an imported video, giving you the flexibility to record all your sets with your device's camera app and import them later.

Quick record
Sometimes you might not want to complete an entire workout, and just want to analyse 1-2 key sets. Thanks to the quick record option, you can do exactly this, directly from the home screen. Tap the record a set button, enter your exercise details and go straight to the Metric camera to start lifting.

Responsive Design for Accessibility and Smaller Devices
We've optimized Metric's interface for a better user experience across all devices:

  • Improved handling for smaller phone screen sizes (iPhone SE and mini models)
  • Enhanced support for large text when accessibility font sizes are active

  • Resolved an issue with the exercise multi-add feature that prevented adding multiple exercises to an in-progress workout
  • Handled some teams bugs that were causing workouts and sets to occasionally to be attributed to the wrong athlete
  • Fixed the case of the missing set videos when training with RPE
  • Fixed some navigation and display issues when reviewing workouts and velocity data in training history
  • Improved the responsiveness of hiding and un-hiding reps within a set

Coach and Family Plans
Metric now offers Pro subscriptions for Teams and coaches, as well as family plans. Train with your friends or manage your clients more effectively with these new subscription options.

Profile Pictures
Personalise your account by adding a profile picture. Set yours in the Training Profile tab within your account settings.

Improvements ✨

Pre-fill RPE for Future Sets
Plan your training exertion ahead of time by pre-filling your RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) or RIR (Reps in Reserve) numbers for today's workout.

Enhanced Tutorial Screens
We've refreshed the in-app Metric support pages with real-world images to guide you in finding the best recording position. You'll also find more practical tutorial screens and troubleshooting tips for when video recording might be misaligned.

Improved Exercise List Experience
Upgraded look and usability of the exercise list and improved interactions for a smoother multi-select experience when creating templates or while training.

Roster management in app (Pro)
Metric Coach account holders can now manage their athlete roster directly in the Metric app. Add, remove, and edit athletes in your roster all from your device with Coach Mode enabled.

Tracking algorithm refactor
We've supercharged our tracking algorithm! It now runs up to 30% faster in some tests, performs better on older iPhone models, and offers improved reliability for both real-time feedback and post-set velocity data. Expect fewer outlier reps, less processing time, and fewer missed sets.

Athlete data loading in history and performance charts
Teams data now loads and refreshes more smoothly with Coach Mode enabled. Toggle between your athletes' data in both the training history and performance chart pages with ease.

Smoother template building
Creating the perfect workout template is now a breeze. We've improved animations, editing functions, and interactions in the workout template builder for a more seamless experience.

  • Fixed a bug that hid the streaks number when you had a 0 week streak
  • Improved tapability and interaction with number entry fields

Estimativa de 1RM (Pro)
O Metric agora oferece uma estimativa máxima de uma repetição (1RM) no aplicativo em tempo real em todos os seus exercícios com monitoramento de velocidade. Basta treinar normalmente e, depois de concluir 3 ou mais séries em uma variedade de cargas, seu valor estimado de 1RM será mostrado. Meça o tempo total que você completa para um determinado exercício com a nova métrica de tempo sob tensão.
