Metric uses a unique computer vision system and rep-detection algorithm to track lifts in real-time on your device from the iPhone or iPad camera.
Device specifications
At the time of writing the Metric app is only available on iOS. The Android version of the Metric app is still in private development, with a Beta release coming some time in early 2026, you can join the Metric for Android waitlist here.
Metric supports iOS 18 and newer and due to the limitations of older Apple camera systems, Metric works best on newer model iPhone or iPad models (full list below).
Below is a list of the recommended devices capable of providing accurate velocity data within the Metric VBT app. Devices older than those listed will likely experience extended processing times and potentially inaccurate training data due to lower resolution cameras and less-powerful hardware.
iPhones compatible with Metric VBT:
✅ iPhone 11 and ALL models newer than this (2019 or more recent year of release)
✅ iPhone SE gen 3
iPads compatible with Metric VBT:
*Basically as a rule of thumb, iPad video camera functionality got a big upgrade in 2020-21 so devices released in this year or newer will work well with Metric, older iPad's can still run Metric however expect slower video processing and potentially less accuracy with real-time velocity feedback.

These devices may be able to download the Metric app however they are not officially supported.

Metric VBT for Android
Metric is currently only available on iOS enabled devices. Android is still in private development but we hope to release this app to a wider audience in 2026.
